I am very honored to receive an award for this photo from the River Stewardship Council. Yesterday's ceremony was held on a traditional New England Fall foliage day with the North Bridge in the background. Town, State, and Federal officials were in attendance to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the National Wild and Scenic Rivers Act and the 20th anniversary of the designation of the Sudbury, Assabet, and Concord Rivers.
This winning photo is the moon rising in Great Meadows National Wildlife Refuge in Concord, MA. Copies can be ordered in framed prints, notecards, ceramic tiles, and glass cutting boards.

The Sudbury Valley Nature Photographers, in collaboration with the Sudbury Valley Trustees, will present an exhibition of nature photographs by ten members from Nov. 2-30 in the Raytheon Room of the Wayland Public Library, 5 Concord Road, Wayland. The exhibit will be open during normal library hours, except when there is a scheduled event taking place in the meeting room.
The exhibit is inspired in part by SVT’s book and trail guide, “40 Walks West of Boston.” Photographs in the show were created on the SVT properties and adjacent local, state and national conservation lands which appear in the book.
SVNP members participating are Sue Abrahamsen, Terri Ackerman, Hendrik Broekman, Joan Chasan, Steve Gabeler, Wayne Hall, Betsy Moyer, Barbara Peskin, Anne Umphrey and Carol Walsh.
A “Meet the Artists” reception is set for 2:30-4:30 p.m. Nov. 8. Beginning at 3:30 p.m., several photographers will give brief, informal gallery talks about their works on display. Did you know that the artists at Emerson Umbrella open their studios to the public the first Thursday of every month from 6 to 8PM? Come see Eyes of the World in Studio 307 plus many other artists at Emerson Umbrella.
